About Plumbline
Welcome
Welcome to Plumbline Schoolhouse! Thank you for thinking of making Plumbline a part of your family’s homeschooling adventures. We are so glad you are here! We offer a la carte classes for homeschoolers of all ages, for a variety of subjects. We have two campuses, in Lovettsville & Purcellville, VA. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].
Mission
We are a non-denominational Christian organization devoted to supporting positive growth and freedom of religion for Christian homeschool families and the Christian community in general. We provide this support by creating and offering quality educational and social opportunities. Leaning on the wisdom of Jesus Christ; His Plumbline standard is our standard for this mission.
Vision
School should be a place where children feel happy, make friends, and learn! Unfortunately, the current cultural upheaval is causing children stress in their learning environment. Therefore, an important aspect of our vision is to provide a peaceful and comfortable environment for our children to learn and socialize in.
We believe the best way to do that is to remain committed to modeling the Love and Life of Jesus Christ, for all people, while also standing firm concerning our Mission, Vision, and Faith Statement. We aim to provide an environment where students can focus on meeting their educational and social needs without being distracted by societal and political stressors. Isaiah 54:13 “All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.”
We hope to, with God’s grace, build a strong foundation to grow from, where in the near future, we will be able to offer a four-year plan to High School students, to have tutors and grade level evaluators, and to offer a healthy and exciting variety of social opportunities for all of our students. We are honored to be in a position to enable engagement with the community in speech and debate clubs, optional participation in local missions, field trips, drama performances, and many other beneficial opportunities for students.
The most important thing we can do for our children is help them be capable and confident enough to face the world without us…when they are ready. While they are still young, they need a Christian foundation to stand on. It is imperative for these children to see their parents and role models stand firm in their beliefs. They need to see that freedom of speech is still alive and protected and that they do not have to accept trends in society. Plumbline Schoolhouse will be a place where they can develop that confidence. We are excited to see what amazing, strong, and intelligent children and young adults will go out into the world from here!
Holy Father, we pray for Your blessings on our mission and vision for Plumbline Schoolhouse and for the staff, teachers, children, and families of our community. Thank you! In Jesus Christ's name we pray, Amen.
Plumbline Schoolhouse Statement of Faith and Biblical Worldview
1. We believe the Bible alone is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16)
2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 1:1, Colossians 2:9, John 15:26, John 10:30)
3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, as God himself and perfect man, that He is the only Lord and savior for all; we believe in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (Matthew 1:18-25, Mark 16:6, Hebrews 9:12, 28, Acts 1:9-11, Acts 2:32-33)
4. We believe that for the salvation of the lost and sinful man, belief in Jesus Christ as our only Savior and repentance of sin are necessary. (John 14:6)
5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (Acts 1:8, Romans 15:13)
6. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that we are guided by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God to discern and stay in line with His truth and wisdom together. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, John 14:16)
7. We believe in the sanctity of life from conception to death. (Psalm 139:13-16)
8. We believe that all races are equally precious to God. (Acts 10:34-35)
9. We believe gender is a gift from God and that there are only two genders, male (man) and female (woman). We believe that no one can change their gender even if they attempt to do so. (Matthew 19:4-6)
10. We believe homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teachings. Marriage is designed and blessed by God, and is without exception, only between one man and one woman. (Hebrews 13:4, Matthew 19:4-6, 1 Corinthians 6:9)
11. We believe that no political figure or idea should be idolized or raised above the law of God. (Mark 12:30)
12. We believe that we are called to be humble and loving towards each other while at the same time, we are called to always honor God’s Law in word and in practice. (Mark 12:30-31, Romans 12:3, 10)
13. We know that it is especially noted in the Bible that no one should cause “one of these” children to fall into sin, and therefore, we regard our positions as parents, teachers, staff, and volunteers seriously. (Matthew 18:6)
